Trichocereus pallarensis was a Ritter nomen nudum, lacking any formal description
and apparently no herbarium vouchers were made despite Ritter collecting and distributing seeds.
It appears in the horticultural world at
least partially due to seed sales of Ritter
material by H.Winter in Germany.
The species was offered in their 1961
catalog according to Ritter 1981.
Winter is given as the 1961 source for the seeds producing the material now growing
at the University of California
at Berkeley Botanical Gardens.
Fortunately Ritter 1981 briefly discusses this plant.
As was also his opinion for Trichocereus peruvianus, Ritter considered T. pallarensis to most likely be a form of T. pachanoi.
