      bridgesii var. brevispinus K.Schumann

      bridgesii var. longispinus Hort.

      bridgesii var. lageniformis (Förster) K.Schumann

      bridgesii var. monstrosus
There are a number of different monstrose forms.
Several are low with short joints.
Others grow more upright and form longer branches.

One of these latter arises as the odd branches on otherwise normal var. longispina and often grows normal offshoots once cut and rooted.
Several of the columnar forms and at least one of the short forms are known to have produced crests.
