    Sacred Cacti is finally returning
as a hugely expanded 3rd edition!

    entitled

    Trout's Notes on

    Sacred Cacti  3rd edition

    Botany, Chemistry, Cultivation & Utilization
    (Part A)

It is packed with color photos.

This work includes a closer look behind the smoke and mirrors of the War on Drugs revealing its true nature as an attempted cultural purge and social cleansing based on religious sensibilities disguised as Public Health concerns.
It also includes a detailed look at peyote & the other known mescaline containing cacti including their botanical characteristics, reported distribution, their known history as human symbionts and every locatable published analysis.
It is intended to serve as a reference compendium concerning the properties, chemistry & pharmacology of mescaline, with sections on its assays, reagents, isolation & purification, and its pharmacodynamics, toxicology, metabolism, excretion and known drug interactions.
There is also a detailed guide to the cultivation & propagation of cacti, a treatise on their preparation & use, abstracts of the published literature pertaining to isolations and/or analytical approaches, and a chapter on the other succulents known to be used for ethnomedicinal and/or spiritual applications. (To see a 2004 revision of this last part as pdf file)
Like all of the Trout's Notes, it includes an extensive listing of detailed references for your own research purposes.

Sacred Cacti is presently the single most comprehensive and detailed review & reference compendium that exists concerning mescaline and the cacti that are known to contain it. Part A details mescaline and the cacti other than Trichocereus, Part B covers the Trichocereus species & Part C is a reference compendium for all known cactus alkaloids other than mescaline.

Are you tired of waiting for the availability of a book that could have seen publication two years ago? Now you can become part of creating entheogenic history.
This work is now being offered preproduction as a deluxe limited edition hardcover. The price is $125 if in the US and $150 if outside of the US (this price includes shipping costs for a book that will likely exceed 4 lbs per copy). The $125 price is also available to any nonUS customers who can arrange pickup.
Only 200 copies of the hardcover will be produced and an acknowledgement of the supporters who enabled its creation will be included (unless anonymity is preferred).
We are also willing to presell a limited number of these to wholesale book buyers at 40% off with a 8 copy minimum and a 12 copy maximum per vendor.
The presales of the hardcover will create not only the hardcover but part of the funds needed to create a softcover.
In the event we do not find that there is enough public interest to justify its existence (by the end of 2008) then we will fully return any monies invested.
