Some Cacti purchased from Karel Knize in 2000
Lots of beautiful plants but many are unidentified. Letters & Numbers indicate an assigned number for keeping track of the cuttings and nothing else. As background for the following: An order was placed with Karel Knize. [we will skip over a lot here] When delivered (accompanied by a shipping list for 60 cuttings), the 76 cuttings included only 17 labels; of which 1 is clearly in error, several more also appear to be in error and a handful of others are perplexing. Trout assigned each cutting a number to ease photographing and record keeping. Interestingly in Knize's 2002 mailing list it appears that one or more of these same plants has been assigned NEW collection numbers and more than one has seen the specific designation changed. Misdentified cuttings D17b kk337 tulhuayensis P1 mislabeled "KK919" from Knize For comparative purposes KK242 As represented in Western (USA) horticulture today; all were grown from seeds obtained directly from Karel Knize or originating with Karel Knize and resold by cactus seed vendors. |
