In Harry Johnson's 1954 catalog on page 18, the following comment appears:

   “A lovely new species from southern Peru where it grows in the cloud gardens. Growing among boulders it is at first upright but soon the branches are gracefully pendent. Dark green stems, huge white blossoms.”]
