    Trichocereus akersii

      The following entries appeared in Johnson's catalogs:

      1954 catalog p. 18: "A new species of Trichocereus from the western flanks of the Andes near Nazca, Peru. Plants to 8' tall with short trunk and several side branches. Areoles white-wooly, some plants as white as Espostoa. Flowers narrowly tubular, zygomorphic, corolla salmon-pink."

      1956 p. 35: "White hairy plants. A new species. Salmon-pink flowers. 2-3" 5 years old."

      1957 p. 33: "Handsome white, hairy plants. Flowers salmon-pink. A beautiful new species."

      1958 p. 34: "Handsome white haired plants with salmon pink flowers."

      1959 p. 28: "Handsome white haired plants growing to 8" with salmon-pink flowers."

      1960 p 34: "Handsome white haired plants with salmon pink flowers."

      1961 p. 34; 1962 p. 34: "Handsome white haired plants with apricot pink flowers."
